Bot-demotion »
Every season break all bot-teams in division VI and lower are demoted to the lowest division. However a bot-team that ends as nr 1 in division VI either advance or at the least need to play a qualification match.
Vacant spots after bot-teams are then occupied by teams with owners, who in that way get a "free" promotion. These promotions are determined by league rankings, just like normal promotions. The highest ranking team in division VII (who is not already qualified for a promotion) will be the first team to get a spot when a bot-team is demoted. In the national championship will teams that are promoted get the spot that the bot-team previously held (if the bot-team was qualified for the championship).
If you get a "free" promotion you will not receive the promotional bonus. Your fan club will however get 10% more members, as by a normal promotion. Still your fans do not expect miracles and will not expect you to win your first season in your new division.
If your team ends up last and about to be demoted, it will always be demoted even if there is a bot-team in your division layer or even your own division. It is teams from below that will be promoted and take the places of bot-teams. The only exception is if there are no teams with owners in the league below you then you will stay in your division even if you are in the last spot.
If you do not want a "free" promotion you will have a chance to click "no thank you" under your settings. Shortly before the season break a setting will show up where you can toggle your wishes. The default setting will be on "accept promotion". This setting is of course only in effect for the free promotions. If you are playing in the lowest ranking division a "no thank you" will not be accepted, if there are spots available in the division above.
